How to compare GPUs

A graphics card is a trade-off between speed, memory, power draw and price. This page puts every GPU we track with a current offer in one table, so you can compare them on the same footing. Value is available as an optional ranking when you want to weigh price against what you need.

Compare performance and specifications

Start with how fast the card is for the way you play. The performance index puts cards from different generations on one scale, with ray tracing and AI compute indices alongside. Check VRAM, memory bus, power draw and size in the same table.

Compare current GPU prices

Every row shows the cheapest current new offer and how many retailers carry the card. Open a row to compare retailers, or add the refurbished and used offers we track to see where they sit next to new cards.

Choose the features that matter

Filter by video memory, power, size and the grade you need for your resolution. Every filter shows how many cards are left, so you can narrow the market without guessing.

Use Value when price is part of the decision

Value weighs price against the factors you care about, such as performance, VRAM, ray tracing and power, including three years of electricity if you choose. Pick a use case or set the weights yourself, or leave priorities off to compare on price alone.

From the market to a shortlist

  1. Filter the market

Set your budget, video memory, power and size. Every filter shows how many are left.

  2. Compare specifications and performance

Sort by performance, price or any column, and read the grade for your resolution. Switch on priorities if you want Value to rank the list.

  3. Save or compare candidates

Add products to the comparison to see them side by side, or save them to come back to later.

  4. Check current offers

Open a product's offers to compare retailers. Click any price to test an offer you were given against the same market.

Questions about comparing GPUs

What should I compare when choosing a GPU?

Start with performance at the resolution you play, then video memory, power draw and size, which decide whether the card fits your case and power supply. Ray tracing and AI compute matter if you use them. Then compare current prices across retailers.

How do I compare GPU performance?

A normalised index for comparing graphics cards across generations and architectures, built mainly from 1440p rasterisation benchmarks. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is calibrated to 1,000 points: a card with 2,000 is roughly twice as fast, one with 500 about half. Ray tracing and AI compute have indices of their own on the same scale.

How much video memory do I need?

Running out of VRAM causes stutter and blurry textures however fast the chip is. As a rule of thumb, 8 GB is the floor for 1080p, 12 GB suits 1440p, and 16 GB or more is for 4K and high-resolution textures. Filter by video memory, or require a grade for your resolution.

How often are GPU prices updated?

Offers are refreshed as market snapshots; each offer shows when it was checked. Retail prices can change at any time, so confirm the final price on the retailer's site before buying.

Is it safe to buy a used graphics card?

A used card can save a lot, but usually without a warranty. To check a listing, choose Add your deal (or click a price and Try your price), enter the price, set the condition to Used, and compare its Value with new cards that come with a warranty.

Does electricity cost matter when comparing GPUs?

Older or cheaper cards often draw far more power. The three-year energy cost uses four hours of daily load at the electricity rate you set (the market's default until you change it). A used card that costs less to buy can cost about the same once the power bill is counted.

What does the Value score mean?

Value is a relative score from 0 to 100 under the priorities you choose. Each weighted factor (performance, price, VRAM, power and so on) is compared with the rest of this market, the factors are combined, and the best result in the comparison reads 100. It is a measurement of the current market, not an official rating; the methodology page has the full formula.
