Plain-language terms for embedding The Comparator widgets (live iframes, static exports and white-label embeds). These apply in addition to our general Terms of Use. Questions: contact@thecomparator.tech.
1. What you get per plan
Plans differ on four separate things: how the data reaches your page (live iframe or static export), whose name is on the widget (our credit or white-label), who earns the affiliate commission (our IDs or your own), and reporting and response time.
Free — the live iframe widget, on any site, with visible “Powered by The Comparator” attribution, running on our affiliate IDs. Creator — static widget exports for one licensed domain, with your own approved affiliate IDs, keeping our credit visible. Pro — live white-label embeds for one licensed domain, with your own approved affiliate IDs, publisher tracking and priority support. A license key is issued per domain and per plan; using a key on another domain is not permitted.
The Founding Publisher Program is a limited, invite-only grant of Creator access after a selected publisher completes a first verified installation. It is not a free plan. Founding access keeps “Data by The Comparator” or agreed co-branding visible and does not include full white-label rights. The separate Founding Publisher Program Terms apply.
The separate Publisher Pilot is a manually supported 60-day evaluation for one article before a paid license. It keeps visible Comparator attribution and is governed by the Publisher Pilot Terms.
2. Attribution
Free and Creator widgets must keep the “Powered by The Comparator” credit and its link visible and unmodified. Pro (white-label) embeds may reduce branding as described in the plan, but must not claim the data or scoring as your own methodology.
3. Data is a dated snapshot, not live prices
Widgets show the latest available market snapshot, and every widget displays the date it was checked (“Checked: <date>”). Prices, offers and Value Scores are editorial snapshots with a shown date — not a real-time price tracker. Value Score is an estimate based on our current dataset, selected weights and methodology (how it works); it is not an official product rating or a price forecast. Always confirm the final price at the retailer.
Prices are shown in US-market US dollars. Widgets do not convert amounts into other currencies.
4. Affiliate links and Amazon
Widgets may contain affiliate links. You must not replace, inject or redistribute The Comparator’s affiliate tags. If your plan supports your own Amazon Associates ID, you may use only your own approved ID on your own approved site, and you are responsible for your own affiliate disclosures required by the FTC, the EU and your local rules. Without your own ID, Amazon-related CTAs route through The Comparator’s deal pages by design — do not attempt to bypass this.
5. Don’t modify or misrepresent the output
You may size and place widgets to fit your layout, but you must not alter displayed scores, prices, product names or disclaimers, present the widget as an official rating from a manufacturer or brand, or use it in content that is misleading, defamatory towards brands, or illegal.
6. Revocation and termination
We can revoke license keys that are abused (tag manipulation, domain misuse, scraping the widget API, fraudulent traffic) and may discontinue or change widget endpoints with reasonable notice. You can stop using the widgets at any time; paid licenses run until their expiry date.
7. No warranty, limited liability
Widgets are provided “as is”. We are not liable for lost commissions, incorrect purchasing decisions, retailer price differences, or downtime. These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia and the European Union and may be updated; material changes are announced in the changelog.
