SSD Value Calculator

This page is the SSD market and a value calculator in one. Prices come from the checked offers of this market snapshot; Value ranks them under the priorities you set — or not at all, if you only want the prices.

Capacity first, then value

Pick the capacity you need with the filter, then compare drives within it. Value never rewards terabytes you did not ask for.

Speed and endurance, side by side

Sequential read and write speeds, rated endurance (TBW), DRAM cache and NAND type sit in one table, so two drives that look alike can be told apart.

Check it fits your system

Filter by interface and form factor — M.2 NVMe, SATA and so on — so every drive you compare works in your computer.

How to find the best deal

  1. Narrow the market

Use the filters for your budget, capacity, interface and form factor. Every filter shows how many drives are left.

  2. Tune your priorities

Choose a use case, or customise the weights. Grades show whether a drive is quick enough for the job; Value shows how good the price is.

  3. Check the offers — and your own price

Open a drive’s offers to compare retailers, or click any price and try the one you were offered: its Value appears against the same market.

Frequently asked questions

How is Value calculated?

Value is a relative score from 0 to 100 under the priorities you choose. Each weighted factor — performance, price, endurance and so on — is compared with the rest of this market, the factors are combined, and the best result in the current view scores 100. Turn priorities off to browse by price alone.

What do the speed figures mean?

Sequential read and write speeds are the manufacturer’s rated maximums for large files. Everyday responsiveness depends more on the interface, the controller and whether the drive has a DRAM cache, which is why those are listed too.

What is TBW?

Terabytes written: the amount of data the manufacturer rates the drive to write over its warranty. Higher means more endurance; for most home use even modest ratings last many years.

Will this drive fit my computer?

Check the form factor and the interface: an M.2 NVMe drive needs an M.2 slot that supports NVMe, a 2.5-inch SATA drive needs a SATA port and a bay. Filter by both to see only drives that fit.

How often are prices updated?

Offers are refreshed as market snapshots; each offer shows when it was checked. Retail prices can change at any time, so confirm the final price on the retailer's site before buying.
