Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

At The Comparator (thecomparator.tech), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data Controller

The data controller responsible for this website is:

DigiMetrics OÜ (Estonia) Registry code (registrikood): 17341001 Registered address: Järveküla tee 64-9, 30322 Kohtla-Järve, Ida-Viru County, Estonia Contact: [email protected]

What we collect and why

1. Local storage (essential, no consent required). We use your browser’s local storage to save your preferences — “Value Engine” settings, custom items, pinned cards, and filters. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to our servers, and is used solely to make the tool work for you.

2. Server / hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process standard technical data (IP address, browser type, timestamp) for security and to deliver the site. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Analytics (only with your consent). With your explicit consent, we use Google Analytics (with IP anonymization enabled) to understand aggregate usage and improve the site. Analytics scripts and cookies are not loaded until you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

Cookies

  • Essential: the cookie banner stores your consent choice and the app stores your settings in local storage. These are always active and required for the site to function.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies are set only after you accept. If you reject, no analytics cookies are placed.

Third Parties

  • Google Analytics — see Google’s Privacy Policy. Used only with consent.
  • Affiliate merchants (Amazon, Newegg, eBay, etc.) — when you click an offer you leave our site; the merchant’s own privacy policy then applies. We do not share your personal data with them.

Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon) or your local supervisory authority.

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
